Abstract

Background: Shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder among workers, especially those who perform static and repetitive tasks for prolonged periods. Long working duration is suspected to influence the occurrence of shoulder pain. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between working duration and the occurrence of shoulder pain among female workers in a cigarette factory. Methods: This analytical observational study employed a cross-sectional design. A total of 100 female workers were selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a respondent characteristic questionnaire and the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) to assess the occurrence of shoulder pain. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that most respondents had long working durations and experienced shoulder pain. However, statistical analysis indicated that working duration was not significantly associated with the occurrence of shoulder pain among female cigarette factory workers (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Working duration is not significantly associated with the occurrence of shoulder pain among female cigarette factory workers. Although the results were not significant, these findings provide important information for preventive strategies, such as optimizing work duration and providing adequate rest periods to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders in industrial workers.
