Abstract

Common childbirth injury to the perineum, either vaginal lacerations or wounds caused from episiotomi reduce voiding reflex, which can cause bladder more susceptible to infections that interfere with normal urination process. This study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship with the perineal wound pain while urination in postpartum women.

Theadesignaofathe study was correlative. Theasampling technique used was accidental sampling. The populations were 1 – 4 day postpartum mothers who had perineum suture wounds with urinary pain in BPM Ny. Wiwik Nurmila, SST. Data analisis used was Rank Spearman test statistic.

The results showed most of the respondents with the assessment criteria being wounded were 7 respondents (58%) and had pain with scale when urinating were 6 respondents (50%). The results of the statistic showed there was a correlation between Perineum suture wounds and urinary pain in 1 – 4 days postpartum women with significance level of 0.005 and coefficient of 0.001 Rho.

Looking at these results, midwives should be more intensive in caring the Perineum suture wounds by giving health care produres to minimize the incidence of maternal perineal rupture.
