Tingkat Pengetahuan Pasien Tentang Dagusibu Antibiotik di Apotek Banyuwangi

Abstract

The use of antibiotics without a doctor's prescription is still common in the community and can increase the risk of bacterial resistance. Patient knowledge about the proper use of antibiotics, including the concept of dagusibu (Get, Use, Store, Discard), plays an important role in preventing irrational drug use. This study aims to determine the level of patients' knowledge of dagusibu antibiotics in pharmacies in Banyuwangi, based on age, gender, education, and occupation. This study used a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional design. This study employed purposive sampling, with a total of 83 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that respondents with a good level of knowledge were 63 respondents (75.9%), 14 respondents (16.8%), and 6 respondents (7.3%) in the insufficient category. Good knowledge was found in the 36-45 age group (14 respondents (87.5%), women (41 respondents (77.3%), college education (22 respondents (84.6%), and housewives (23 respondents (74.2%) in the occupational group. The level of patient knowledge about antibiotic use is relatively good; efforts to expand education and outreach to the community are still needed to strengthen the rational use of antibiotics and prevent antibiotic resistance.
